8 Breezy Songs Of The Ever Effervescent Leena Chandavarkar

Leena Chandavarkar made her debut in 1969 in the movie Mann Ka Meet produced by Sunil Dutt. It is said that later on Nargis Dutt groomed her to become a better actor. Leena Chandavarkar was famous for her round face and sweet smile. She acted in many films such as Manchali, Jaane Anjaane, Humjoli, etc. She starred in many films where she was cast opposite huge stars such as Rajesh Khanna, Dilip Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar. Her performance in films like Mehboob Ki Mehendi and Bairaag were much appreciated by the audience. After the death of her first husband she married singer-actor Kishore Kumar.

Despite of coming from a Marathi-speaking family and being raised in Dharwar, Leena Chandavarkar played the character of Shabana with élan. Not only did she carry herself well in the sharara, but also mouthed the dialogues with full confidence.

4. Dhal gaya din ho gayi shaam – Humjoli (1970)
Who can forget, what was popularly known as, The Badminton Song! Starring opposite none other than jumping jack Jeetendra, she matched every step of his making the song an instant hit till date.

5. Yahan kaun hai apna – Qaid (1975)
Playing a character with different shades in the movie Qaid and that too in the initial years of the career, Leena Chandavarkar once again showed off her acting talent. Her playfulness in the song is a good example of this.

6. Oh manchali kahan chali – Manchali (1973)
She plays a rich spoilt girl who just does not want to get married. She inherits a fortune but there’s a catch, she can get it only when she gets married. So she hires a husband to get it. Enjoy this fun song which became a huge hit.

7. Aaj main jawan ho gayi – Main Sunder Hoon (1971)
Look how innocently she interacts with a bird and talk to it as if it were her friend. She captures your heart with her simplicity and sweetness.

8. Dil mein kisi ke pyar ka – Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka (1975)
Yet again starring opposite Dharmendra, she looks beautiful in her all-white avatar. Trying to get his attention in this song, she manages to get everybody’s attention as well.
