The Singing Sensation of the Nation – Sonu Nigam

Over the years he has proved himself to be one of the favourite singers of the nation and has made India proud internationally. It is that voice which has given listeners songs which will always be those loved numbers. Yes, it is Sonu Nigam who started with a low note in the music industry but as time went by, history holds the record to see the rise of one of the greatest singers of the country.

Nigam was born on 30th July, 1973 and at the age of four he embarked his singing journey with a Mohammed Rafi song on stage which he sang with his father Agam Kumar Nigam. After moving to Mumbai he enhanced his singing career under the training of classical singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.

His initial journey in the music industry did not start with a bang. He started with singing for album released by T-Series named Rafi Ki Yaadein. After this his next move was towards television which gained him lot of popularity among the audience. He started hosting the popular musical show Sa Re Ga Ma in 1995.Immediately after this he sang ‘Accha sila Diya Tune Mere Pyar Ka’ for the movie Bewafa Sanam (1995) which paved the way for making of a super singer. ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ in the movie Border (1997) brought to him a lot of appreciation and marked the beginning of success for the singer. From then and till now, Nigam has never known how to stop. Series of songs in Bollywood are to his credit which is difficult to be listed out.

Apart from films, Nigam has also created a buzz in the field of Indian Pop music. His album Deewana (1999), in which Sajid – Wajid directed the music, still is considered to be irresistible for those who loves romantic and soft music. Other albums like Jaan, Chanda Ki Doli also became top chartbusters of that time.

Nigam is known for singing in various languages and is a singer who has experience of singing in varieties of genre of music. Nigam is an established and popular singer in the Kannada industry. In fact he is known as the Golden Singer of Karnataka. Well, this is the story within the nation, but Nigam has attained the international fame by working with international singers like Avicii.

He is a singer who has always seen to be deeply involved with music. He has appeared in many musical shows in television. Not only this but he has tried to stretch his horizon by composing music and also by acting in movies. Married with Madhurima in 2002, Nigam celebrates his 42nd birthday on 30th July, 2015. As music lovers we only hope that he continues to charm the listeners with his lovely voice in the time to come and wish him healthy upcoming years.
