Joy of Vivacity – Joy Mukherjee

His career, though short lived was braced with pompous and florid songs. Most of them being romantic and vibrant, colouring the screen with many hues of romance. He was best in bringing out the vivacity, freshness and tenderness in his style of romance. Though acting wasn’t his strength, he could bring in uninhibited enthusiasm on the screen, enjoying all the hysterical and wild songs. Joy Mukherjee was the son of Sashadhar Mukherjee, co founder of Filmalaya Studios. Several of his hit films were made by his home banner. Introduced along with the beautiful Sadhna in a tender romantic film “Love in Shimla”, he won the hearts of many with his entry where he jumped up and down in a train compartment singing. Often dressed in bold colours, a much sought after youngster, a stylish gelled puff of his hair, with bright eyes, vibrant smile, he became a heartthrob for many. Catapulted to stardom from his very first film, Joy Mukherjee, enjoyed the status as a romantic hero for nearly 7-8 years. For many he was a lesser version of Shammi Kapoor.

5. Love in Tokyo – Very different from the usual effervescent number, this song is simmering with seduction. With his purposeful ease and resolved looks, he brings this song to life in a seething, bubbling way!!
