Romancing The Nature – Trailing The Wilderness

Have you ever been on a nature trail? Away from the chaos of urban lifestyle, the hustle – bustle, the flattery society and its formalities. Nature, the green heaven as we can call it sounds like a perfect place to be away from all these above urban boasts. The serene environment with some of the eerie but delightful nature sounds elevates the peace quotient of our minds. It boosts your energy levels when you are away from the loads of distraction!!
Some days back I read a quote – There’s no wi fi in the forest but I promise you will find a better connection.

And I long to go for such forest trails either with some of my like minded friends or alone (which would be better) if possible!!! The idea is to spend more time outside than inside. Asking all the young people to do so at least once in every 6 months. I’m sure this will be more fruitful learning than what you learn or surf or forward within the 4 walls decorated with air conditioners. While I’m on this topic, I cannot forget to mention one of my favourite poems which I learnt during my school days.

Daffodils by William Wordsworth –

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,

Hindi films always have included songs which bring us closer to the nature. Almost all those songs are so delightful. There are few songs which take us close to nature instantly. The haunting quality music of such songs is so appealing that you are under its spell immediately. Moreover, they are picturised in the magical wilderness. The snow capped mountains, the green trails, crisp flowing rivers, earth in its full decor under the clear blue canopy, sometimes lined by golden light, sometimes by fleecy cotton balls.

Listing below few such favourite songs of mine which are picturised in the vicinity of contagious nature which make the songs contagious as well. Moreover to add a dash of romance to it, the songs are picturised on the actresses who are in love or are yearning to be with the beloved or longing to meet someone in life. If not all this they are singing in abandonment to the beautiful nature.

1. Aaja re pardesi – Madhumati (1958) – Can you escape the haunting melody of this song? Madhumati waiting for her beloved while she scales the entire beautiful hilly area!!

2. Phaili hui hai sapnon ki baahein – House No. 44 (1955) – Lata sings Sahir’s lyrics in tune with S D Burman’s haunting music. A beautiful example of Waltz, brings you so much closer to nature.

3. Panchhi banu udti phirun – Chori Chori (1956) – There’s nothing to beat this song when it comes to a free will abandonment. Nargis, free as a bird in the skies and rapturous as the flowing river.

4. Baharon mera jeevan bhi sawaron – Aakhri Khat (1966) – I call this song as the Indian Solitary Reaper. Yearning to be loved by a special person in her life. Khayyam is a champion when it comes to haunting music.

5. Ja ja ja mere bachpan – Junglee (1961) – Saira Banu, innocent and beautiful, on the threshold of youth. Asking her childhood days to stay away as she wants to enjoy the journey ahead which is full of romance and love. A beautiful SJ number which wins your heart instantly.

6. Mausam hai aashiqana – Pakeezah (1971) – Meena Kumari’s magnum opus, sadly she did not survive to witness its release. This beautiful Lata number again, where she yearns for someone special to be with her.

7. Yeh dil aur unki nigahon ke saaye – Prem Parbat (1973) – The beauty of this song is that there’s no picturistaion available but it still has the capacity to transfer you to the snow capped mountains and the mist covered valleys. Such is the magic of Jaidev.

8. Ambar ki ek paak suraahi – Kadambari (1975) – The perennial Asha Bhonsle number, has the ability to transfer you to another world. A woman boldly accepting of loving someone, amidst beautiful nature.

9. Phir se aaiyo badra bidesi – Namkeen (1982) – A Pancham magic you cannot miss. It gives you the feel of drifting with clouds thanks to his haunting music, Gulzar’s lyrics and Asha Bhonsle’s flawless rendition!!!

10. Dil hai chhota sa – Roja (1992) – Nature at its best down South, with the eternal A R Rahman number. Just love the way this song gives you the feel of gay abandon!!
