Ace Guitarist Gorakh Sharma Passes Away
Gorakh Sharma, an ace musician, arranger passed away last night after battling with bone cancer for several years. He was younger brother of Pyarelal Sharma, of the Laxmikant – Pyarelal duo. He was 72.
His career which spanned from 1960-present, was seasoned with around 1000 songs. He was a master in playing string instruments such as guitar, mandolin, rubhab with specialization in all kinds of guitars. Gorakh Sharma started his musical career as a mandolin player. At the young age of 14, he got the opportunity to work with music director Ravi and played the mandolin in the song Chaudhvin Ka Chaand (1960). There upon he got the opprtunity to work with several music directors like Shankar Jaikishen, Kalyan ji Anand ji, R D Burman etc. But he did maximum number of songs with the duo Laxmikant Pyarelal.

RIP. Assistant music director to Laxmikant-Pyarelal (Shashikant-Gorakh)…one of the pillars of Laxmikant-Pyarelal grand orchestra, Gorakhji your GUITAR tunes will always remain in our heart. RIP.

Pyarelal ji ke chhote Bhai gorakh Sharma ek aise kalakaar jinki sangeet ki jadugari dekh aur sun ke koi bhi insaan proudly ho sakta hai..jaise ki Mai….
