A voice that needs no introduction – Amitabh Bachchan

By  |

The man and his voice; both need no introduction. The reason I’m personifying his voice is because it’s an entity in itself.

It cannot be denied that his distinctive voice played a voluminous role in his Stardom. The ethereal quality of his voice is still unmatched.

It is a well known fact that Amitabh Bachchan wanted to start his career as a radio presenter and had applied at the radio network ‘All India Radio’ after finishing his university education. But it was an unbelievable twist of fate that even after auditioning for both English and Hindi, he was rejected. Unbelievable, right?

Amitabh’s ability to communicate emotions from every word could be attributed to his observations of his great poet-father at many a gatherings.

It is a lesser known fact that Amitabh did not first appear in the film industry as an actor but as a voice over artist for a low budget movie Bhuvan Shome in 1969. Bachchan revealed in his blog that the director Mrinal Sen found his voice ok but outrightly rejected the idea of him becoming an actor.

It was in 1979 that Amitabh Bachchan made his debut in playback singing with the song Mere Paas Aao from Mr Natwarlal, an action comedy.

In his blog on Tumblr the Superstar revealed that terrified with the proposition he had a tough time convincing music director Rajesh Roshan for not making him sing in Mr Natwarlal. His efforts were futile though and he had to record the song at Mehboob Studios.

Post recording he garnered many fans and positive feedbacks from eminent recordists.
