Aamir Khan – Juhi Chawla – The Effervescent Couple of Bollywood

By  |

Whenever we talk about famous onscreen couples the famous pairing of Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla would most certainly crop up. This couple has created instant connection with the audience from the moment they came together in a film thirty something years ago. Not only did they win our hearts but left us wanting more with each film they did together and individually. Their first film was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and the last film in which they starred opposite each other was Ishq (1997). It was during Ishq that they had an argument and never worked together. But during their decade working together they gave us around 7 movies and many more beautiful songs.

We have listed seven songs from each of their movie together. It was very difficult to select from the numerous songs so we decided to take one song from each movie.

1. Akele hain toh kya gham hai – Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988)
Raj and Rashmi – Also known as QSQT, the film made waves for its story, the ending, music and of course the lead pair. The innocence of the two stars is inevitable not only on their faces but also in the voice and expressions.
This song is composed by Anand-Milind, lyrics are penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri and sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik.

2. Ghoonghat ki aad se – Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993)
Rahul and Vyjayanti – This romantic comedy gave us a completely different ‘avatar’ of Aamir and Juhi who laughed and made everyone laugh with them.

The song is sung by Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu. It is composed by Nadeem-Shravan and lyrics are by Sameer. This song won Alka Yagnik National Award for best singer in that year.

3. Disco Dandiya – Love Love Love (1989)
Amit and Reema – It came right after QSQT and although it did not do as well as the first film, it still managed to get some audience.
This song became a rage during that time and was played at almost every Dandiya night. It is sung by Alisha Chinoy and Vijay Benedict, composed by Bappi Lahiri and penned by Anjaan.

4. Ab Teer Chale Talwar Chale – Daulat Ki Jung (1992)
Rajesh and Asha – This movie was a little different than the first two love stories that this pair did as it had a treasure hunt twist to it.
The song is composed by Anand-Milind and is sung by Udit Narayan and Anuradha Paudwal.

5. Tum Mere Ho – Title Song (1990)
Shiva and Paro – This romantic drama had every kind of ‘masala’ audience demanded at that time; snake charmers, special powers, ‘ichhadhari naag’ (shape-shifting snake) et al.
The song which was quite popular those days is composed by Anand-Milind, written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and sung by Udit Narayan and Anupama Deshpande.

6. Ek Dooje Pe Marne Wale – Aatank Hi Aatank (1995)
Rohan and Neha – Highly inspired by The Godfather, this action-crime film saw both the actors in quite different roles than those they had played earlier.

7. Ishq hua – Ishq (1997)
Raja and Madhu – This romantic-comedy/drama also starred Ajay Devgan and Kajol as the other lead pair. It had some really nice songs and the album became quite hit among the listeners.
