Beauty Queens of Bollywood – Meenakshi Sheshadri
Born as Shasikala Seshadri, this elegant danseuse became Miss India in 1981 when she was merely 17 years old and went on to represent India in the international pageant.
Known as Meenakshi Seshadri in the film industry, she debuted with a film called Painter Babu in the year 1983. The film, however, didn’t do well. In the same year she was offered Hero by Subhash Ghai opposite Jackie Shroff. It was this film which made Meenakshi and Jackie an overnight sensation and there was no looking back this point onwards.
Amazing talent for acting backed with some fabulous dance moves Meenakshi climbed the success ladder with every film she signed. She did myraid roles opposite various actors but she’s best remembered for her powerhouse performance in the National Award winning film Damini directed by Rajkumar Santoshi in the year 1993.
Meenakshi left the tinsel town after getting married and has settled down in the USA. She runs a dance academy there and performs with her students at various charity events.
