Bicycles and Bollywood Songs – Part 2
In our first part we saw some old songs featuring the two-wheeled delight and its significance in our songs and movies. Moving further, we will see some newer songs which feature the bicycle. It is interesting to see that even with the changing times, new thoughts and new vehicles, the bicycle somehow still is a part of our films; just like our lives.
1. Bhanware ne khilaya phool – Prem Rog (1982)
This song is composed by Laxmikant- Pyarelal duo, lyrics are by Narendra Sharma and it is sung by Suresh Wadkar and Lata Mangeshkar. It is featured on Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure.
2. Iss jahan ki nahi ye tumhari aankhein – King Uncle (1993)
The song features Shah Rukh Khan and Naghma. It is composed by Rajesh Roshan and the lyrics are penned by Indeevar while it is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Nitin Mukesh.

3. Chandi ki cycle sone ki seat – Bhabhi (1991)
This Anu Malik composition is sung by Nitin Mukesh and Anuradha Paudwal and is penned by Hasrat Jaipuri. It is featured on Govinda and Juhi Chawla in a dream world.
4. Yahan ke hum sikandar – Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)
The bicycle songs collection will be incomplete without this song. It is composed by Jatin-Lalit and is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. The playback is by Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam, Jatin and Lalit.
5. Raja ko rani se – Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995)
Yet another Aamir Khan song; this one is composed by Anu Malik and written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. It is sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik.
6. Ek ladki ko dekha toh – 1942 : A Lovestory (1998)
Featuring Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala, this song is sung by Kumar Sanu. It is composed by R D Burman and the lyrics are by Javed Akhtar.
7. Meri Zindagi mein aaye ho – Armaan (2003)
This Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composition is written by Javed Akhtar and is sung by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. It is featured on Anil Kapoor and Gracy Singh.

8. Khuda ya khair – Billu (2009)
The song from the movie Billu is written by Gulzar and is composed by Pritam. It is sung by Soham Chakraborty, Akriti Kakkar and Monali Thakur.
9. Ala Barfi – Barfi (2012)
In this movie the lead character Barfi, played by Ranbir Kapoor, is shown riding a bicycle in many songs and throughout the movie. So we have added this video which has all the bits and parts of it.
The song is composed by Pritam, written by Swanand Kirkire and is sung by Mohit Chauhan.

10. Char kadam – PK (2014)
A romantic song, this one is composed by Shantanu Moitra, written by Swanand Kirkire and sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Shaan.
11. O rangrez – Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
Another gem from the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, this song is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Javed Bashir and is penned by Prasoon Joshi.
12. Love you zindagi – Dear Zindagi (2016)
This song is composed by Amit Trivedi and is written by Kausar Munir. It is sung by Jasleen Royal and Amit Trivedi.
We are sure that you must be tempted to ride your bicycle after listening to these songs. It might have been a long time for some of you but there is no harm in starting all over again, right? So, bring out that rusty old bicycle out of the backyard and ride along!
