Cross Dressing In Bollywood – When Men Dressed Like Women – Part 2

In the last article we saw some old songs featuring men dressed like women. Now, let us take a look at some new songs. Many new heroes have tried their hand at cross dressing, but the songs depicting them in this avatar are not many. There are many films in which actors like Shah Rukh Khan (Duplicate), Shahid Kapoor (Milenge Milenge) and even Salman Khan (Jaan-e-Man) have dressed up like the fairer sex. But there are no songs in which they make such an appearance. Here are some of the songs that we could find.

1. Dole dole dil dole – Baazi (1995)
Oh yes, I’m sure that Aamir Khan’s name popped up in your head too. This fair and cute chocolate hero proved to be a beautiful girl dancing and shaking a leg like a woman. Interestingly, Aamir played a woman’s role in one of the advertisements as well.
This song is composed by Anu Malik and written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. It is sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy.

2. Jaago gori (Makarina) – Chachi 420 (1997)
Kamal Haasan played the role of a lady caretaker (Laxmi Chachi) with so much ease and elegance that he won everyone’s heart. This song is composed by Vishal Bharadwaj and lyrics are penned by Gulzar. It is sung by Asha Bhosle and Kamal Haasan.

3. Title Song – Aunty No. 1 (1998)
Govinda played the character of Maharani Kanaklakshmi in this movie. The song is composed by Anand Milind and sung by Arzoo Bano.

4. O Allah meri laaj bachana – Mera Faisla (1984)
Believe it or not, but Sanjay Dutt played a woman’s role too! In this movie he wants to meet his girlfriend and disguises as a girl (?) to get entry in her hostel. Even though he dressed in dainty pink and all the ornaments and the long plates, the act was not at all convincing; barring his expressions.

5. Jack and Jill – Paying Guests (2009)
Javed Jaffrey and Shreyas Talpade play the role of Kareena and Karishma. This song is composed by Sajid-Wajid and the lyrics are by Jalees Sherwani. It is sung by Shaan and Earl D’Souza.
Javed Jaffrey had played another female character in Mr. Shrimati.

6. Khol de dil ki khidki – Humshakals (2014)
This song shows three men dressed as women; Saif Ali Khan, Shreyas Talpade and Ram Kapoor (yes, you read that right). It is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and the lyrics are by Shabbir Ahmed while it is sung by Mika Singh and Palak Muchhal.

7. Dil mein baji guitar – Apna Sapna Money Money (2006)
Reteish Deshmukh impressed everyone with his ‘Sunaina’ guise in this movie. Look how beautifully he carries a summer dress in this song. It is sung by Amit Kumar, Babul Supriyo and Mika and is composed by Pritam. The lyrics are written by Shabbir Ahmed.
