Finally He Can Call Himself An Indian – Adnan Sami
Recently he tweeted ‘Jai Hind’ with all pride and happiness in his heart. There couldn’t have been a better new year for the singer Adnan Sami who was granted Indian Citizenship on 1st January 2016.
Having his roots in Pakistan, Adnan Sami was born in Britain and was a Canadian citizen. He has been in India since 2001. Finally the wait is over for the singer who can with pride call himself an Indian for which the singer has waited for more than a decade. His Pakistani passport got expired in the month of May after which he made several representation to the Home Ministry for his Indian Citizenship and he was granted the same on humanitarian grounds.
He received a citizenship certificate from Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju in Delhi. According to the singer he wanted to stay back in India and feels that he has come back to home. Adnan Sami rose to fame with his song ‘Lift Kara De’ and gained lot of popularity in Bollywood because of his distinct voice and style of singing. He was recently heard in the latest movie of Salman Khan Bajrangi Bhaijaan, crooning a Qawwali number.
The singer definitely is on the cloud nine as his dream for Indian nationality became true. We congratulate the singer and wish him all the best for his future ventures.
