Luck by Skills: The Multitalented Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar is one of those people in the HIndi Film Industry who commands automatic respect. Farhan Akhtar entered the industry as a director in the movie Dil Chahta Hai and it instantly became a cult film. And the new kid on the block had already arrived. His style of narration and the treatment brought freshness to the otherwise repetitive themes that the Indian Film Industry was going with at that time. Farhan Akhtar has not only inherited the name from his father but also the artistic genes from both his parents.

Farhan Akhtar is a multi-talented film-maker who is a screenwriter, producer, actor, singer and director. And the best part about him is that he is successful in all of them. After a series of hits as a director including Hrithik Roshan starrer Lakshya and Shah Rukh Khan Starrer Don, he decided to debut as an actor. He is a very big music enthusiast and chose a subject very close to his heart – MUSIC. He had always loved singing and hence made a movie that revolved around a band that struggled with their own demons. He sang every track in the movie. The soundtrack and the movie was an instant hit and was very highly appreciated by the audience, again bringing freshness and a change.

This was followed by another home production – Luck By Chance -but this time directed by his sister Zoya Akhtar. The movie’s theme was very sensitive and required optimal performances by actors to make it work. This was by far the biggest challenge for Farhan to not get overshadowed by the likes of Konkana Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.

His confidence grew with the success of the films that followed including Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, another film directed by Zoya Akhtar. This movie gained a cult status over the years and is one of the most intellectual and loved movies. Riding high on success and now an established actor Farhan Akhtar decided to play the biggest role of his career – Milkha Singh. The biopic was a massive hit with all the elements in place.

The club song is vey nicely arranged and has major influence from electronic music The song is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and written by Javed Akhtar. The video features Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone.


4. Toh Zinda Ho Tum – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)

Toh Zinda Ho Tum is a hindi song from the 2011 movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The song is actually a poetry written around the central theme of the movie, narrated by Farhan Akhtar. Meer-E-Kaarwan is a hindi song from the 2017 movie Lucknow Central. The song is sung by Amit Mishra and Neeti Mohan. The song is composed by Rochak Kohli and written by Adheesh Verma. The song features Farhan Akhtar. The movie has a very different story is very much under-rated and has great performances by the actors including Farhan Akhtar.


10. Zindagi – The Sky Is Pink (2019)

Zindagi is a beautiful track written by the legend – Gulzar. The song is sung by Arijit Singh and has music composed by Pritam. The song is from Shonali Bose directed Hindi feature film The Sky is Pink starring Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim, and Rohit Saraf.
