Madhuri Dixit and Unusual Pairings
When we think of Madhuri Dixit the first thing that comes to mind is her fantabulous dancing style, her bewitching smile and her hit pair with actors like Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Sanjay Dutt. She has given some of her best films with these actors and has ruled the hearts of the audience; that’s the reason the filmmakers often repeated these pairings.
There are so many other films in which she was paired opposite a hero which we couldn’t have even imagined because of many reasons. Although the pairing was unusual (for the time, maybe) the outcome was amazing, nonetheless. Let us have a look at some of these songs and enjoy the ‘hatke’ pairs and songs.
1. Kaise Bataaoon – Wajood (1998)
Madhuri plays the character of Apoorva in this love triangle where Mukul Dev and Nana Patekar form the other two corners. This is a poetry narrated by Nana Patekar’s character in the movie. This piece proves that Madhuri doesn’t require any dialogues or lyrics to convey her emotions – her expressions do it all!
The music is scored by Anu Malik, the poem is written by Javed Akhtar and recited by Nana Patekar.
2. Keh do ik baar – Mrityudand (1997)
Directed by Prakash Jha, this movie saw some great performers coming together, Shabana Azmi, Om Puri, Mohan Aghashe. Madhuri Dixit too gave a stalwart performance and was paired opposite Ayub Khan.
This song is composed by Anand Milind and is sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar.

3. Dhadkan zara ruk gayi hai – Prahaar (1991)
Directed by Nana Patekar, Madhuri was paired opposite Gautam Joglekar in this movie. She played the character of Shirley the outspoken girlfriend of the hero. This beautiful song is sung by Suresh Wadkar and is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal while the lyrics are by Mangesh Kulkarni.
4. Akhiyan Milaoon – Raja (1995)
Madhuri Dixit was paired opposite Sanjay Kapoor in this movie. Interestingly, her pairing with his brother Anil Kapoor was super hit. This song was a hit amongst youngsters at that time and was played almost everywhere. It is composed by Nadeem Shravan, written by Sameer and is sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan.
5. Palkon Ke Tale – Sailaab (1990)
This suspense thriller saw the coming together of Madhuri Dixit and Aaditya Pancholi. This movie also has an iconic dance song of Madhuri ‘humko aajkal hai…’ amongst many other.
Sung by Amit Kumar and Kavitha Krishnamurthy, this song is composed by Bappi Lahiri and penned by Javed Akhtar.

6. O Re Piya – Aaja Nachle (2007)
This was the comeback movie of Madhuri Dixit after a 5-year hiatus. She plays the character of Dia who falls in love with an America Photographer Steve, played by Felix D’Alviella and elopes to USA. Although her love story ends quiet quickly to take the movie ahead, there is a beautiful song featuring the two actors. Interestingly, this song was later used by a Malaysian movie Talentime.
It is composed by Salim-Sulaiman, written by Jaideep Sahni and sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
7. Jagaave Sari Raina – Dedh Ishqiya (2014)
This sequel starred Madhuri Dixit and Naseeruddin Shah opposite each other. She plays the character of Begum Para. The two of them (although unusual) look good together and fit the characters to the T.
The lyrics of this song are written by Gulzar and composed by Vishal Bharadwaj. It is sung by Rekha Bharadwaj and the kathak bol are by Birju Maharaj.
8. Prem Rang Sachcha Re – Dayawaan (1988)
This movie, its pairing and some scenes were quiet the talk of the town when it was released. The glaring age difference between the lead – Vinod Khanna and Madhuri Dixit did not go down well with some audience. Madhuri was quite new to the industry at that time and yet she managed to stand tall among all these stars like Khanna, Firoze Khan and Aruna Irani in this song.
It is composed by Laxmikant- Pyarelaal and the lyrics are by Indeewar. It is sung by Jolly Mukherjee, Sapna Mukherjee and Mohammad Aziz.
9. O Baby, Don’t Break My Heart – Mohabbat (1997)
Almost a decade after Dayawaan, Mohabbat was released which saw the pairing of Madhuri Dixit with Akshaye Khanna (Vinod Khanna’s son). This movie also starred Sanjay Kapoor as well.
This song is composed by Nadeem Shravan and is sung by Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Abhijeet.
We hope you enjoyed these different kinds of songs of Madhuri Dixit and the unusual pairing with the heroes. Do mention your favourite song of hers and unusual pairing in the comments section.

There is one more unusual pairing of Madhuri with Om puri in her initial days of career. The movie was Dharavi and Madhuri plays On puri’s fantasy and has a dance in dream sequence.
