Moustaches To Movember In Hindi Film Style

When it comes to style and fashion we always look up to the actors and the other people involved with the film industry. Hindi films and its way of presentation have not only styled with the changing times but it is also one of the major trend setters in fashion, with the film celebrities becoming fashion icons of the youth. Be it clothes or hair style, the audience just love to ape their icons. Be it the bell bottoms, chiffon sarees, hats, spectacles, goggles, the moment they are worn on screen, the market is abuzz these merchandise. People even love to copy the hair-dos, even the weirdest one. From chic haircuts to long silk tresses, all have been helpful in maintaining the style statement. And these styles and aping is not limited to the female folks only. Men have been equally involved in copying their screen gods. From the debonair puff of Dev Anand to Amitabh’s goatie to Aamir’s Ghajini hair do, men have been seen adorning these from time to time.

Facial hair for men have been a major style statement. Specially the moustaches. Whether it is the handlebar, horseshoe, Dali, English, lampshade, painter’s brush, Fu Manchu, pencil, pyramid, toothbrush or even walrus, chevron and imperial, all these styles of moustaches have always helped men to up their style quotient. While talking of moustaches how can we forget Movember? It is is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues. The goal of Movember is to change the face of men’s health. Men who grow Movember are the Mo-bros. They encourage their brothers, fellows to get involved in this task of raising awareness and funds for men’s health issues.

Hindi films time and again have been known for different styles of moustaches. The heroes, the villains, the comedians, the character actors have all sported different types of moustaches. Who can forget Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Golmaal (1979) which is all about the moustaches? Don’t the audience just love Bhavani Shankar (Utpal Dutt) when he says – Jiske paas moochh nahin, uske paas mann hi nahi hai!!!
Or when Amitabh quips in Sharabi (1984) about the adorable Mukri – Moochhe hon toh Natthulal jaisi hon, warna na hon!!
Or the when the lovable Sher Khan says in Zanjeer (1973) – Seth, mere paas girvi rakhne ke liye kuch nahi…haan ek cheez hai agar tum uski keemat pehchano toh….Sher Khan ki moochh ka baal!!

So here’s a fun list of songs which have film styled moustaches and will help you to style your Movember. A glance into few such songs of the actors sporting a moustache on screen but they didn’t have it in real life. Up your style quotient and highlight the health quotient with a Movember.

1. Bharat Bhushan – He was known as the first chocolate face of Hindi cinema. Bharat Bhushan sported moustaches in quite a number of films in his career.

2. Dev Anand – He sported some of the weirdest of the moustaches. Hum Dono (1961) and Gambler (1971). But it is in Jaali Note (1960) where the moustaches suit him and makes him look a dapper as per his image!!

3. Dilip Kumar – The tragedy king sported a rustic moustache in his home production, cult classic Ganga Jumna (1961)

4. Shammi Kapoor – This lover boy of the industry shed his moustaches to become the eye candy of the viewers. There are his initial films where he sports a moustache.

5. Dharmendra – Handsome hunk of the industry. He sported a moustache in almost all his movies in and after 80s.

6. Rajesh Khanna – The romantic superstar sported a horseshoe style moustache in Daag (1973) amongst the other films.

7. Rishi Kapoor – The ultimate chocolate boy sported a moustache in his most well known role of Akbar Ilhabadi. But he also did it in Zahreela Insaan (1974).

8. Amitabh Bachchan – The superstar of the millennium sported in many of films. Though he sports a stylish beard and moustache now, he did not have a moustache earlier.

9. Sanjeev Kumar – This amazing actor known for his various get ups in the films has sported almost all types of moustaches on screen though he didn’t have one in the real life.

10. Farooq Sheikh – The chocolate boy of off beat cinema. Known for his inimitable style in commercial as well as art genre, Farooq Sheikh sported a moustache in Umrao Jaan (1981)
