R.D. Burman and the Sparkling 80s
Writing about stalwarts from the industry is one of the most difficult tasks that I come across. What more can you add to the things that have been said already and written already? Which aspect of the talent or the person would you try to explore in your article that has not been touched upon!
I’m going through a similar crisis right now as I have taken up the mammoth job of writing about R D Burman. And now two days into it, I’m wondering what went into my head that I decided to take this up. But now that I’m already into the water I better start making the most of it and survive.
Though, Pancham Da has enriched our lives with innumerable hit songs there are certain gems which were popular, yes, but they didn’t reach the same heights of popularity as other songs. Yet, they were amazing and have the capability of taking the listener on a beautiful musical journey. So here are some hand-picked songs from the 80s that were popular at that time but may have lost a little lustre over the years. Just trying to blow a little wind on these to refresh our memories and let the gems sparkle again.
