It won’t be wrong to say that in present day he is one of the most powerful personality in Hindi cinema and is a person who is hugely popular in overseas as well. This man who has made an immense contribution as an actor, producer and as a television personality, does not need any introduction. He is the King Khan and is known as the Baadshah of Bollywood.

Shahrukh Khan was born on 2nd November 1965 in New Delhi. He grew up in the localities of Delhi and started his career with acting in television serial Fauji in the year 1989 and then Aziz Mirza’s Circus (1989 – 90) followed by many other series in television itself until the year 1992 where he strikes the screen with his debut movie Deewana, starring opposite to Divya Bharti and Rishi Kapoor. The first movie launched the career of the superstar and thereafter the actor never looked back.

Breaking the conventional image of a hero in the movie industry, the actor as a beginner took lot of risk and experimented his acting skill in the role of anti – hero, in initial movies like Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam. All the movies proved to be a great success. If the movie Darr established the collaboration of the actor with Yash Chopra and Yash Raj films, the movie Baazigar established his hit pairing opposite to the actress Kajol who together has worked to deliver sheer hit movies like Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, My Name is Khan, to the audience

In Aditya Chopra’s directorial debut Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995) Khan earned the status of a romantic hero which later was exploited by many directors especially by Yash Chopra and the director Karan Johar. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge became the blockbuster hit of the year and also broke all records and became the longest running Hindi film ever. It is still been screened in Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai. Khan and Kajol starrer love story is still considered to be the epic.

Out of many romantic hits, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Na Ho, Devdas, Veer – Zaara are some of the notable ones. After the year 2004, the audience saw the actor in more intense roles in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades where he played the role of a NASA scientist. His role of a Hockey coach in the movie Chak De! India was also much appreciated. The list also includes My Name is Khan where he enacted a man with Asperger syndrome.  The actor has worked in more than 80 films with a wide range of versatile roles. In the year 2012 he acted in Jab Tak Jaan which is the last movie directed by Yash Chopra. Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express in 2013 also gained him lot of accolades.

Apart from a famous personality in the field of cinema, Khan is a popular name in the television industry too. He has hosted programmes like Kaun Banega Crorepati and Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? telecasted in Star Plus. Khan owns a production company Red Chillies and also is the owner of the IPL team of Kolkata Knight Riders.

A family man, Khan’s real love story is famous and known among the Bollywood lovers. He is married to Gauri Khan who is the co founder of the company Red Chillies and is also a producer of movies naming Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Happy New Year, etc. The couple has three children. If he is a great actor, media has captured his role as a real life dad as well. He has been seen taking lot of interest in  his kids’ life and has featured with his wife and kids many a times in front of the media. In fact the movie Ra.One, a science fiction movie was a favor to his children.

He is one of the richest actors of the world but at the same time is also noted for his philanthropic attitude towards the society. He was the third actor after Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarys Rai whose statue was waxed in the museum Madame Tussauds.

For his contribution apart from numerous Filmfare award, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India and the French Government honoured him with Ordre des Arts et des Lettres(2007), and its highest civilian honour, the Legion d’honneur (2014). The details of his contributions are endless. He is the torch bearer in the field of cinema for the younger generation actors. Khan is one personality whose count of fans is just innumerable.
