Veteran music director Raam-Laxman passes away
Veteran music director Vijay Patil (Laxman), better known as RaamLaxman, passed away last night in Nagpur after a brief illness. He was 78. His last rites will be performed today at 12pm.
A student of the Bhatkhande Sangeet Sansthan, Vijay Patil had taken his initial music lessons in Nagpur (which is also his hometown) from his father. Adept in playing accordion and piano, Vijay Patil started his music career in an orchestra. He and his partner Surendra (Raam) got their break in films with none other than Dada Kondke in the Marathi film Pandu Hawaldar (1975), which saw a raging success . Thereafter they continued doing Marathi films with Dada Kondke until they got Agent Vinod (1977). Though his friend Raam (Surendra) passed away soon after the film was signed, Vijay Patil continued to work as RaamLaxman. He became a regular with Rajshri Productions and gave his career best music with the thumping success of Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The film also gave him his first and only Filmfare award. He has also composed music for a few Bhojpuri films.

This is just for your information….
