Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai – The Airborne Melody of R. D. Burman

Remember the song ‘Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai’ from the movie Kati Patang, which is probably one of the most favourite numbers in the list of the songs that the movie features, has a very interesting fact to disclose to the Bollywood lovers.

This particular song was never planned to be featured in the movie. It so happened that the superstar Rajesh Khanna and RD Burman were travelling together in a flight to Delhi. In between the conversation the actor asked Burman to hum a tune to soothe his frayed nerves. Burman felt obliged and the tune of ‘Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai’ was heard. Rajesh Khanna liked the tune so much, that he prevailed on the director Shakti Samanta to create a situation in the film only include the song which later became a blockbuster track and still does not fail to create sensation to the music lover.
