10 Bollywood Songs That Shined In The Year 2017
It is that time of the year again where we sit and recall the entire year, or at least the highlights of it. We think about the moments that made the year what it was. The mistakes that we made and the lessons that we learned, all comes rushing towards us at the yearend. Some people do manage to smile all along while some would just frown. Overall, it is a mixed bag of emotions and the new resolutions that emerge out of them.
Let us have a look at the year 2017 with respect to Bollywood and its music. It was not a very fruitful year for the Hindi Film Industry as far as music is concerned as there were not many mind blowing albums or songs that would remain in our memories for a long time. This year saw many remixed songs like Laila Main Laila, Tamma Tamma, Hawa Hawai and what not. But there were some good songs that lasted with us at least till the yearend and maybe for some coming years. So in all, it was not a bad year for music lovers. Let’s just say that it was a little above average fair.
1. Mere Rashke Qamar – Badshaho
Featuring Ajay Devgn and Illeana D’Cruz, this song is sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. It is composed by Tanishk Bagchi while the lyrics are by Manoj Mustanshir.
2. Swag Se Swagat – Tiger Zinda Hai
This foot-tapping number is sung by Vishal Dadlani and Neha Bhasin. The music is given by Vishal-Shekhar and the lyrics are written by Irshad Kamil. It features the beautiful Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan. Another song from the film Dil diyan gallan also was a big hit.
3. Hawayein – When Harry Met Sejal
This beautiful song is sung by Arijit Singh and is composed by Pritam. These simple yet meaningful lines are by Irshad Kamil. The song features Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan.
4. Nazm Nazm – Bareilly Ki Barfi
This small budget movie had soul and was a big hit all over the country. The songs too were appreciated to a large extent. This song is written, composed and sung by Arko. It features Kriti Sanon and Ayushman Khurana.
5. Ban Ja Rani – Tumhari Sullu
The story of this movie revolves around the typical difficulties faced by middle class housewives throughout the country. The makers roped in the best actress to play the pivotal role – Vidya Balan. Her expressions and dance moves are to watch out for in this song. It is written and sung by Guru Randhawa and it features Vidya Balan and Manav Kaul.
6. Main Kaun Hoon – Secret Superstar
Although Aamir Khan is one of the producers of this film, it was a low budget film and yet it was a hit. It also made an impact as it carried a strong social message. The song is sung by sixteen year old girl Meghna Mishra and is composed by Amit Trivedi. The lyrics are by Kausar Munir.
7. Barish – Half Girlfriend
Another romantic song that created quite a buzz among people was this song from the movie Half Girlfriend. The movie was a disaster but the songs were a hit. Composed by Tanishk Bagchi, the song is sung by Ash King and Sasha Tirupati. The lyrics are written by Arafat Mehmood and Tanishk Bagchi. It features Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
8. Ghoomar – Padmavati
This movie was supposed to be released in 2017 but due to many protests regarding the content and story, the release date got delayed. Fortunately, the music was released this year and the song is still a big hit. It is composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Swaroop Khan. The lyrics are written by A. M. Turaz while the Rajasthani lyrics are by Swaroop Khan.
9. Main Tera Boyfriend – Raabta
Another Arijit Singh number, but a club song this time; it is also sung by Neha Bhasin and Meet Bros. Lyrics are by Kumaar. It features Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon.
10. Radio – Tubelight
This Salman Khan movie made a lot of money and was a hit with his audience. This song in particularly was a massive hit and was played on all the radio and television channels. It is sung by Kamaal Khan and Amit Mishra. The music is given by Pritam and the lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
