True to her name, Vyjayanthimala, ruled the silver screen not only because of her beauty but also because of her acting skills and mesmerizing dance moves. She was born on 13th Aug, 1936. On her birthday, we present to you some of her never-withering songs resonating her beauty and talent together.
1. Main ka karoon Ram mujhe buddhha mil gaya – Sangam (1964)
Vyjayanthimala’s portrayal of the character Radha in this film was appreciated by the audience. She lived that character on screen which had different layers to it. This song is one such aspect of Radha.

2. Tumhe yaad karte karte – Amrapali (1966)
Playing the royal courtesan of the same name, this historic film was not a commercial success, although later, it was considered as a classic. It is said that after the box office debacle of the movie, slowly her interest in the film industry diminished.
3. Aage teri marzi – Devdas (1955)
Known for her flawless Bharatnatyam dances, Vyjayanthimala played the role of Chandramukhi and surprised everyone with her Kathak dance moves. She also got a Filmfare award for this film as the best supporting actress, which she refused saying she played the main role. By doing this, she became the first actor to refuse a Filmfare.
4. Do hanso ka joda – Ganga Jamuna (1961)
This song from the dacoit drama Ganga Jamuna, is all about the separation and longing for the beloved. She expresses those emotions aptly that one wants to reach out to her to soothe her.
5. Bol ri kathputli bole (Happy version) – Kathputli (1957)
Just look at the sheer innocence of this actress in this song. The carefree attitude with which she dances like a kathputli on the streets surely wins your heart! This song has two versions, a happy and a sad one. We get to see the contrast of the situation in the film through these two songs. Thumbs up for this talented actress for doing justice to both the versions.
6. Eena meena deeka – Aasha (1957)
This happy and peppy song will make you dance no matter in what mood you are!
7. Aurat ne janam diya mardon ko – Sadhna (1958)
Her eyes speak more than the words of this song. Again playing a character with many shades, she yet again proves how versatile she is.
8. Hothon pe aisi baat – Jewel Thief (1967)
This is undoubtedly one of the best dance numbers in the film industry till date. Vyjayanthimala’s dance steps and expressions change so quickly that one can only gape in sheer admiration.

9. Mann dole mera tan dole – Nagin (1954)
Famous for its ‘been’ music, it gives you the feeling of actually being in the song yourself. This is one of her early work, yet the actress proves her mettle.

10. Julmi sang aankh ladi – Madhumati (1958)
She played the iconic triple role Madhumati, Radha and Madhavi. Only an actress of her caliber could pull off such a huge responsibility on her shoulders and doing so beautifully.

how could u miss: ek baat bata de jogi -and zoom zoom ke chale akeli – film taj 1956. she was at her best.
