Today we celebrate the festival of Rakshabandhan, the bond that ties a brother to his sister. No matter what age group, age gap, on this day a brother promises to protect his sister from evil for their entire life and the sister promises to love her brother unconditionally. Here are few songs to add a little musical note in this beautiful festival.

1. Bhaiyya mere rakhi ke – Chhoti Behen (1959)
This is one of those songs which will always find a mention whenever Rakshabandhan is celebrated, that too filmy style, so how can we forget it? Featured on Balraj Sahni, Rehman and Nanda, we are sure that every filmy sister has sung this song for her brother either out of sheer love or for teasing him. Such is the relationship!

2. Rang birangi rakhi – Anpadh (1962)
Come celebrate the festival, celebrate the bond.

3. Jhoola baahon ka aaj bhi do – Doli Saja Ke Rakhna (1998)
In this song the sister is asking her elder brothers to shower their love on her like they used to do when she was a baby. She says even if she is a grown up now, she will always remain a child to them.

4. Dekh sakta hoon main – Majboor (1974)
A brother, no matter elder or younger in age, can never see his sister crying; even if it is for a petty reason. Amitabh Bachchan so effortlessly conveys these emotions on the screen that every girl wants a brother like him.

5. Bandha hua hai ek ek dhaage se – Rakhi (1962)
Bound by the thread of love, never to be broken.

Sonu Nigam has outdone himself yet another time by singing this soulful song. The warmth, the love, the depth of a brother-sister relationship is so beautifully depicted in this song that it creates emotional ripples in your heart for sure. Hritik Roshan acts superbly as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, showing his vulnerable side in this particular song makes it a must watch.

7. Phoolon ka taaron ka – Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971)
Even if the song isn’t about Rakhi festival, it brings out the sentiments so well. A quintessential Bhai – Behen song!!

8. Behna ne bhai ki kalaai se – Resham Ki Dori (1974) –
