The melody of Tasveer

By  |

Ensemble of ‘Hues and Views’ on ‘Tasveer’ songs, each one has its own poetic craft and poetic element. They all have different shades, tones, undertones, expressions and emotions related with ” Tasveer”.

Painting is the silence of thought and the music of sight – Orhan Pamuk

Every picture tells its own unique story, and takes the power from memory and emotions attached to it .

While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see – Dorothea Lange

A Tasveer has a potent visual language, it may be made with the camera, or sketched , or painted, but it’s interpreted with the eye, heart, & head of the beholder, along with the memories related to it .

A ‘ Tasveer ‘ can speak a thousand words, or inspire you to write or speak a thousand words about it.
There are two dimensions for every picture: the artist/ photographer and the viewer. What One looks on in a photograph is one’s state of mind reflected outward .

Certain pictures can be very compelling and evocative, you can almost see and feel everything about it .You get roped in by its beauty and the emotion it invokes, which cannot to be explained, nor can it be contained in words. And at times, Pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of the subject, because in reality it’s a stirring site ,more beautiful, more imposing ,and more elaborate .It reveals as much as it hides. The rhythm of a picture vibrates and touches the heart…..the words of a poem mingles with wind, and blends with the feelings….

A picture- ‘Tasveer ‘- can have its own limitations ,or go even beyond limitations ,and imagination. Only a poet, or a person in love, can see beyond the picture through his/ her poetic eye , or inner lens ,and see the real big picture.

Mehbooba teri Tasveer
Everything about this song is dreamy , the lyrics, ambience, rendition, composition and Dharmendra -who’s a dreamboat. A song surfeit with dreamy feelings and invisible ,vibrant yearnings..

Tasveer teri dil mein
A Picture perfect song …
Romanticism at its Picturesque best….

Jidhar dekhu teri Tasveer
The Kishore version has happy hues to it….

Where as the one sung by Big B- Amitabh Bachchan is drenched in ‘Viraha Ras ‘ and Big B’s emotion drenched rendition gives you goosebumps…
When all he can see is her image everywhere, when she’s elsewhere .

Teri Tasveer Ko seeney se laga
Yesudas’s deep baritone and semi-classical rendition makes its Classic melody .

Tasveer banaata hoon
When it’s not possible to put your thoughts in a Tasveer, when your dreams cannot be realized in reality ,and cannot be actualized on paper or canvas ….
Talat’s Velvety baritone disarms you …

Tasveer banaata hoon teri khuney jigar se
Rafi’s fabulous rendition and lyrics which wear the heart on sleeve.

Jo baat tujhmein hai teri Tasveer
The limitations of a Tasveer are conveyed through this song very eloquently.

Jeevan se bhari
This song though it doesn’t have Tasveer in the ‘mukhda’ it’s all about Tasveer , so had to add it to this ensemble …

” Tasveer banaaye kyaa koyi
kyaa koyi likhe tujhpe kavitaa
rangon chhandon mein samaayegi
kis tarah se itni sundartaa
sundartaa… ”
The combination of Kishore Kumar as singer, Kalyanji Anandji as music director, was always deadly .

And lastly a non-filmi ghazal by Mehdi Saab

Main Teri Yaad Ko Is Dil Say Mitaata Kaisay
Tu Koi Rait Par Likhi Hui Tahreer Naheen
Waqt Kay Saath Jo Mit Jai, Woh Tasveer Naheen….

Sublime is the word for this melody ….

Missing A Very Popular, Sweet and Melodious Song from “Piya Ka Ghar” 1971. ‘ye jhulf kaisi hai ..wo kaisa hoga jjiski tasveer aisi hai’ . Mohammad Rafi – Lata Mangeshkar. Anand Bakshi and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. This song definitely deserves to be listed in this blog.
