From A Chocolate Boy Image To Darker Shades – Rishi Kapoor
Started as a child artist and then went on to attain fame as one the most celebrated romantic hero of the 70’s and 80’s era with giving innumerable hits on the silver screen for the audience to go gaga over the actor. Also known by his nickname ‘Chintu’ in the film industry, Rishi Kapoor continues to reign at the hearts of his fans by exhibiting his charm even today.
Kapoor is the son of the great showman Raj Kapoor and was born on 4th September, 1952 and started showing his acting skill from a very early age. His debut as a child actor in the movie Mera Naam Joker won him a National award in 1971. His debut as a lead actor in the movie Bobby (1973) opposite to the actress Dimple Kapadia brought him a lot of appreciation and established this new comer as a great romantic actor. Kapoor did 92 films as a romantic hero. Then the saga of his acting continues on screen even today.
Kapoor and Neetu Singh gave lot of hits together after which both of them got married. Movies like Khel Khel Mein (1975) Kabhie Kabhie (1976), Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) are only some out of many movies featuring both of them together. Other movies in the credit of the actor are Karz (1980), Prem Rog (1982), Chandni (1989), Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Deewana (1992), Damini (1993), and many more.
From the dawn of 2000, audience has been viewing this tremendous actor in the supporting roles. Hum Tum, Namastey London, Love Aaj Kal, Shudh Desi Romance. He reappeared with his wife on careen with the movie Do Dooni Chaar in the year 2010, Besharam in 2013 and came in a cameo role opposite to his wife in Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. His recent venture is the movie All is Well (2015)
Kapoor has won accolades for being a versatile actor in the industry. Breaking his image of romantic hero, the actor appeared in a villainous role in Agneepath (2012) and D – Day (2013) which became very popular among the viewers. The actor donned the cap of a director as well and his debut movie as a director Rajesh Khanna, Aishwarya Rai and Akshaye Khanna starrer Aa Ab Laut Chalen in 1999.
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh have two children naming s Ranbir Kapoor who is also a successful and sensational actor in the Bollywood and Riddhima Kapoor Sahani who is a designer.
